Helping people with Stroke Balance Better with BBTW

Posted on March 21, 2012. Filed under: Stroke, Success Stories | Tags: , , , |

Yesterday I helped a therapist with a patient who had a stroke in July 2010. How many of you think you can change balance day one with a treatment??…Not. Well I did with Balance-Based Torso-Weighting and BalanceWear. Once he was strategically weighted he could even close his eyes for 10 seconds without falling. Whereas, prior to BBTW the patient fell forward to the right immediately. Interestingly he reported that prior to wearing BalanceWear he had the feeling like he was on a boat. He felt he was on a sideways seesaw. This feeling was reported as 6/10 with 10 being severe. Once strategically weighted, this sensation improved right away to 4-5/10. Not bad for an hour treatment! In addition, his ability to get up and down from sitting and to roll onto his back improved. He felt his walking was better. His therapist could see a change. Sometimes it isn’t just about walking. It is important to be able to get up and down and stand without loss of balance:-))

Hi Everyone,
I do not have a news letter yet. You can sign up for my news letter from the Motion Therapeutics Website. http://www.motiontherapeutics.com
When I have an established group I will write one. Therapists can also sign up for classes in Oakland in May to learn how to do Balance-Based Torso-Weighting. Please share information about this treatment to your doctors.

Hi Everyone,
Thank you for all the blog posts. I have had an overwhelming response! It is great to hear from you all. Yes this information is fascinating and difficult to possibly understand. Balance is the Foundation of Movement. Without it we would not even be able to sit, stand or walk. Therefore when I help someone with their balance many great things happen! Just so you know I do write all my posts so far. No ghost writers here. All true stories, examples. I will be posting a video with a person with Parkinson’s in the next day or so. Let me know what you think!

Do you want to hear more about my treatments for people with stroke. In the next month I should be releasing a video with two people who used BalanceWear as a part of their stroke rehabilitation.

Please note.

If you have had a stroke try to use your involved side as much as possible. I often see people using their non involved side. I know how difficult it is as I am a physical therapist who has worked with many patients with stroke. At least try to initiate movement in the arm or leg before you use the other extremity. I often see people using the other extremity even though they can do it with the involvoed side because it is easier. This is not good. You have to strive to thrive!

As soon as I found this internet site I went on reddit to share some of the love with them.

Definitely consider that that you stated. Your favorite reason appeared to be on the web the easiest factor to bear in mind of. I say to you, I definitely get annoyed while people think about issues that they plainly don’t understand about. You controlled to hit the nail upon the top as well as defined out the entire thing with no need side-effects , other people can take a signal. Will likely be again to get more. Thank you Tim

I like your bikes. In California we have a place called BORP where individuals with disability can get on modified BIKES and Ride. It is totally cool!

It is about getting to a neutral position. The body workds better when you are balanced and can sit/stand in an upright position. Often people with stroke have a lean.
